Exhibition: "From Evin with Love"

From Evin with Love: Handmade Testimonies from Evin Prison in Iran

The exhibition “From Evin with Love” presents more than 60 artworks and handmade pieces created by women in Tehran’s Evin Prison—one of the Iranian regime’s most notorious prisons.

Produced under conditions of imprisonment between 2010 and 2024, the paintings, woodwork, dolls, carpets, poems, and letters were created by women who were imprisoned for their advocacy for women’s and human rights, social and environmental causes, or because of their religious affiliation.

Their works are not only testimonies of survival, but also acts of resistance—and expressions of care, solidarity, and hope. They bear witness to the psychological and physical violence endured by those imprisoned, while at the same time reflecting their creativity, courage, and determination to assert themselves. A particular focus of the exhibition is the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement.

Alongside the exhibition, a diverse accompanying program of lectures, panel discussions, guided tours, encounters, and music invites visitors to engage in conversations about feminist struggles, decolonial and (queer-)feminist cultures of remembrance, and international solidarity.
